About
Dr. James Cain is a General Surgeon at LifeCare Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Washington in Seattle and completed his residency at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California, specializing in acute care trauma surgery and general surgery.
Dr. Cain was drawn to surgery because he enjoys being able to provide definitive solutions — fixing the problem and helping patients feel noticeably better after surgery. He approaches patient care with a down-to-earth, honest style and values open, straightforward communication.
He was attracted to the peaceful, rural setting of the area and appreciates being part of a close-knit community where his patients are often the same friendly faces he sees at the store or around town.
Outside of work, Dr. Cain says there’s not much that’s more fun than his job — but when he’s not in the OR, he enjoys spending time at home and has tried his share of adventures, including skydiving, scuba diving, and earning his private pilot’s license.
