ENDOCSOPY
Endoscopy is primarily a diagnostic procedure which uses a
flexible scope for visualization. These practices which include
gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy are performed either
on an inpatient or outpatient basis in a special procedure room.
Endoscopy hours of operation are
Monday through Friday, though coverage is available for
emergency procedures.
Endoscopy is performed by a physician
with the assistance of a licensed registered nurse. Intravenous
conscious sedation is administrated by an ACLS (Advances Cardiac
Life Support) certified registered nurse and is monitored by
that nurse throughout the procedure.
