MEDICAL RECORDS
The Medical Records Department provides the following services:
• Maintains patient medical records
• Provides transcription services for physicians, radiologists,
allied health professionals, physical therapists,
occupational therapists, mental health professionals and dental
rounds at Sheltering Oaks Manor
• Provides patient records/charts to patient care areas
• Handles/coordinates information retrieval and release of
information requests
• Prepares and electronically submits birth certificates
• Assists with preparing documents for patient transfers
• Codes and indexes diagnoses/procedures for inpatient and
outpatient services
• Educates staff on confidentiality/privacy policy
• Maintains hospital library services
• Provides forms control/management
• Maintains integrity of and access to medical records
• Maintains data collection and storage/retention of medical
records
The Medical Records Department is staffed Monday-Friday.
Staff is available to provide medical record services in the
evenings and weekends on an emergency basis.
