Black ties,
lively auctions,
and a delicious
five-course meal
all made for a
night to
remember at
LifeCare's third
annual Partners
for Health
fundraising
event.
More importantly, the evening generated more than $25,000 for the general
endowment of the
LifeCare Health
Care Fund,
bringing the
event's three
year total to
just over
$72,500.
"We are pleased with the results of this year's event," says Sue
Grafstrom,
Development
Coordinator at
LifeCare Medical
Center.
"Our goal is to
raise money for
the general
endowment of the
LifeCare Fund as
well as educate
the public about
the benefit this
fund brings to
our communities.
Once again we
feel our goal
was met."
Held Saturday, November 22 at the spacious Roseau City Center, the
evening began
with a reception
where guests has
the opportunity
to socialize and
view the many
auction items
available that
evening.

Also available
were individual
raffles with
prizes ranging
from a Magellan
GPS, a set of
luggage, tickets
to a Minnesota
Wild hockey game
and many other
prizes donated
by area
merchants.
The elegant affair drew more than 170 guests who took turns bidding on
silent and live
auction items.
Guests were eager to participate in LifeCare's version of Deal or No
Deal, where five
models paraded
around the
banquet hall
with their
LifeCare
briefcases in
hand.
Local auctioneer Morris Vacura kept the audience bidding as participants
battled over the
cases containing
prize packages
each valuing
more than $200.
Musical Guest Chris Stuberg provided background music on the cello, and
Master of
Ceremonies
Shayne Isane
entertained the
group with his
clever wit and
wisdom.
Several guests were especially fond of the five-course meal's Chocolate
Flight, which
paired wines and
fine chocolates
with each course
of the meal
prepared locally
by the
Brickhouse Bar
and Grill.
"We are so pleased by the growing interest in this annual event,"
says Grafstrom.
"With the help
of the Health
Care Fund
committee, we
have come up
with new idea
each year to
pique the
interest of many
more people
throughout the
county."
Since its start, the Health Care Fund has made contributions to the
Warroad Care
Center, Oak
Crest Senior
Housing, and the
Warroad School
District.
"As the money in the endowment grows through this event, even more worthy |
projects will
receive grant
benefits in the
future,"
Grafstrom says.
Grafstrom says a special note of appreciation goes to all the vendors,
artists, local
businesses and
those who
participated for
their generosity
in making this
year's event a
success.
"The play a big role in helping us make this night a success, and
LifeCare is
grateful to each
and every one of
them."
According to Deb Haugen, LifeCare's Senior Leader of Marketing, "a big
thank you also
goes out to Sue
and her
committee
members who
worked very hard
to pull together
the Partners for
Health event."

Haugen also
credits those
who attended the
event or donated
to this worthy
cause.
"We are so fortunate that people in our area understand the importance of
contributing to
the health of
our
communities,"
says Haugen.
The fourth annual Partners for Health is already being planned for 2009.
